Welcome to
Kalahari High School
At Kalahari High School, tradition meets opportunity. Rooted in the historic Seodin campus, our school was built on courage, perseverance, and a belief in education for every child. Today, we continue to shape confident, value-driven learners prepared for the future.
KALAHARI HIGH SCHOOL
A Legacy of Learning
Kalahari High School’s story began with a dream and a refusal to give up on the youth of Seodin. Built on hard work, faith, and perseverance, this legacy continues to inspire generations of learners and educators.
01
The Beginnings at Seodin
Kalahari High School started as Seodin, where Mr. Fanie Botha put children first. Where laws stopped learners from attending school after Grade 8, he arranged for Grade 9 classes—in a garage by day, a hostel lounge by night—laying the foundation for a high school.
02
The Birth of Kalahari High School
In 1929, Kalahari High School officially opened with 97 learners and 4 teachers. As the school grew, the primary section remained Seodin, while the high school became Kalahari High, coexisting side by side.
03
Growth, Symbols, and Identity
The school hall was built in 1929, and the coat of arms introduced in 1943. Its enduring symbols—the Bible, pick and shovel, thorn tree, and motto “Werk en Wen”—still reflect the school’s values today.
04
A Living Legacy of Faith and Song
In 1928, Rev A.L.J. Hofmeyr brought music, passion, and guidance to both schools. He composed the school anthem, still sung today, uniting learners and alumni and keeping the spirit of Kalahari alive.

ABOUT US

Rooted in tradition, values, and perseverance, Kalahari continues to inspire generations of learners. From its coat of arms and school anthem to its commitment to excellence, the school remains a place where education, community, and character come together.
